I am always on the hunt… Looking for great domain deals to be had… Firesales, oh I love them! Expiring domain listings at NameJet or GoDaddy aren’t the only place where you can score some absolute steals. Nope! There are a couple of forums which you should browse every chance you get because domainers looking to liquidate their domains dirt cheap, list their domains for a quick sale and the prices are very attractive if you know what I mean

If you  like what you see, you buy it… Deals are usually completed in less than 24 hours and the best part of it all is that you do not need to be going back and forth with auctions or pre-bids. So below are a couple of domains I picked up just the other day at one particular domain forum; DNForum.com. I have been buying and selling domains there since early 2004.

SexyAdvertising.com — I knew I had to have it right away as soon as I saw it up for grabs. This domain’s keyword combo just has a great ring to it and a lot of possibilities to be developed and run as a standalone business.

I will probably try to flip this one sooner than later to a body paint artist or company… It’s big business and an expensive service. Those companies who hire these creative artists to paint the bodies of half naked / fully naked models pay literally thousands of dollars. Not bad for a one time gig… Hmmm, maybe I should get into this business myself? What do you think??!

DrunkGirls.org — It’s highly unlikely that I will develop this one because I called it quits with adult a few years ago but I just can’t pass up a good deal. This domain was priced right so I pulled the trigger.

The drunk girls / amateur partying niche is pretty popular and this one domain should make for a nice and profitable flip. It’s a domain which is in-demand and should sell easily… Right now It’s in good company, along with PublicFlashing.org, DiscreetAffairs.net, TransexualEscorts.net, CaughtPeeing.com, FaceTrample.com, etc… All unsold, but they will be sooner than later. The time will come.

ElectricToothbrushes.org — Those things didn’t even exist 5 or 6 years ago. Still relatively a new type of product and popularity of it is on the rise. We’ll setup a full blown store selling electric toothbrushes and related products on this domain along with reviews, so the entire setup fits nicely with the domain’s keyword and .org extension. Should be a successful developed site… Done deal!

SalonFurniture.net — Any type of furniture is expensive… So this one was a no brainer. I had to have it. Some salon / spa furniture literally costs thousands of dollars so this one should be a nice money maker… Should pay for itself within weeks.

BestSelling.org — What comes to mind when you first hear of “best selling” ?! Hm… BOOKS!! But of course… So we’re going to setup a store with the best selling books, broken down in dozens of categories. Books is a very competitive niche, but we have a great domain… So that should give us a little edge and help convert a majority of the visitors.. I mean, wouldn’t you want to buy something at BestSelling.org ??! Yup! The power of keyword domains… Ah, gotta love it!

NotebookReviews.org — Consumers want reviews before they buy something, and we’ll give them just that… Going to setup a basic store selling notebooks with reviews. Should be an easy sell, thanks to all of the data we aggregate from Amazon web services. Everything is on auto-pilot. Once again, the trust factor plays a major roll in converting visitors into dollars. With a domain such as NotebookReviews.org it’s pretty much a done deal.

BackstreetBoys.org — Oh man… Backstreet Boys!! What can I say? So yea, I am a big fan, without a doubt and who isn’t really? Those guys are legends. When I was growing up, I used to jam to their songs all the time. Not really sure what I am going to do with this one, we’ll try a couple of things but for now it will just sit there with Timbaland.org, JustinTimberlake.org, etc… Some good company

I like .org a lot as you can see… But why? Because search engines like .org as do users. It’s one of the top global extensions, worldwide. If you spot a good deal for any keyword .org domain… Don’t hesitate, get it! I spent a little over $500 on all domains above and glad I did.

If domains of similar quality were available every day by the dozens or even hundreds, I would get them all and put them to good use.. Unfortunately, there aren’t so you have to act when opportunities are there… Gotta think quick and act quick!!!

Some of the domains above are easily worth 2x, 3x.. Hell, even 5x – 10x of what I paid for them on the reseller market. I can flip them easily today, if I wanted to… But no. I am going to develop. Build them out properly and bring out all that hidden potential. Make the big bucks $$$$$$$$

Below is an  e-mail I got from somebody earlier today which I thought I would share with everyone and address as well.

“Man, you’re crazy thinking someone will pay couple hundred bucks a month for a list they can simply go and search themselves through price or quantity of bidders.

Personally, I think if your price range was $10-$25 you would be far more successful. There are too many “newbies” in this domain industry that need services like yours. While some domain professionals will just get it to periodically find a name they possibly overlooked.

If your prices become more reasonable, let me know and I’d be happy to pay you a smaller fee each month. After all, its far better having 10,000 members paying $20 a month then 100 members paying $200 a month.”

You know, we literally get at least a couple of these complaints every other day. People who find the service useful, but want it super cheap or practically free. So lets see, they cannot afford to pay $99 per month? HA! They probably can but they don’t want to. They want everything free or very very cheap… Ahh, spoiled domainers. It’s all of the “domain parking” companies fault, I tell ya

But it’s really not my problem you don’t have $99 or you have become such a cheap and wise ass. This service is not for everyone at the end of the day. It was never meant to be. We provide something very unique here and that will never change. The prices will remain the same, if anything they will only go up with time as we fill up-to capacity which is somewhere around 500 to 1000 members total.

We’re still running promotions every so often and many people have taken advantage of this opportunities and signed up, saving up-to 50%. Locked into discounted pricing by purchasing memberships for 3 / 6 month’s and even 1 year in advance. Smart move!! We appreciate their support and continue to work hard at making the service better overall.

Just one or two domains picked up from our daily lists should pay for the monthly membership and then some… Easily! The price points are what they are today because we decided on them specifically after doing a lot of in-depth market research and pre-launch testing. We really don’t want to price it very low because then the flood gates would open for newbies, such as the fella who wrote the e-mail.

Those newbies always require a lot of “hand-holding” which means non-stop e-mail questions back and forth. Providing support to these people takes up a lot of resources whereas professional domainers already know what to do and rarely require any support. We love them!!

Those cheap ass’ people believe that everybody else’s service should be free, but if they run their own crappy service or sell some kind of a product… Well, then that is  the exception of course. Right! It is ok to charge $$$ for it. .. Ahh, the hypocrisy.

So if you can’t afford to pay $100 – $200 for a monthly membership, you are not really our type of client. Not the demographic we are after… Sorry! It’s nothing personal, just business

It was interesting to see HghSupplements.com fetch $2,950. The domain looked very familiar when I was browsing through all of the listed domains, and that is because I sold it exactly a year ago on a domain forum for less than $500.

Now that I think about it, I probably let it go too cheap but it was the usual quick flip after only owning it for a couple of month’s. I purchased it for $100 from another domainer originally… So I got an OK return of a few hundred bucks for literally 2 minutes of work which involved listing it for sale on a couple of domain forums.

The new owner immediately went to work on the new domain acquisition and built out a website on HghSupplements.com and that increased it’s value… Slowly but surely. A little bit of development always pays off… Congrats on the nice sale!

For those of you wondering about the current setup of HghSupplements.com, it’s powered by WordPress and a cool little plugin called ReviewAZON which basically lets you add as many amazon products to your blog as you want and earn a commission on every referred sale.

I personally always review the results of these “showcase” auctions and you should too… REALLY!! But why??! Because you can find buyers for your domains… For example, I will e-mail the new owner of HghSupplements.com and offer them TestosteroneEnahncers.com at a fair price.

It’s a similar domain and they may be interested in it. We actually developed that domain a while ago, so now it ranks at the top on Google for the root keyword “testosterone enhancers” and many other longtail keywords so it already has some nice and consistent traffic and relevant content. Has a lot going for it.

I’ve sold many domains this way and you can too! Just gotta pay attention to what’s going on around you. I follow the results of GoDaddy auctions, SnapNames auctions, NameJet auctions daily as well as all of the big live auctions happening during the conferences… The best way to review all of these sales is at the DNJournal weekly sales publication put together by Ron Jackson.

I have no interest in any of those domains… If I did, I’d bid on them at snapnames.

I still buy way too many domains week in and week out than what I sell. I get literally hundreds of absolute STEALS falling into my lap with www.domainstryker.com

So all in all it took about 7 or 8 e-mails but a deal was never reached. Time wasted… Big time. This “Jody H. Misher” is a real character as you can see. Even worse, she approached me few weeks later once again on a domain forum in regards to the purchase of a different domain name and started screwing around. Totally unprofessional and frankly damn stupid.

I am surprised she didn’t offer to come over  my house and suck my dick in exchange for a domain or something…. You never know! Heh. I kept my cool though, first time around. As you can see from my e-mail responses above.

Second time around though, while we were communicating on the forum, I wasn’t that nice… When I realized that I was dealing with the same person once again, I told them straight up to “fuck off” and never contact me again.

But what’s the lesson to be learned from all of this? I don’t know… Maybe that there is a lot of morons in this domain business? Yup. That’s it. There are lots of opportunities out there in the domain investment and development business, you just gotta know where to look. Most importantly you have to look hard enough! So lets take these three domains as an example: DressPants.net, ReggaetonMusic.net and GlovesShop.com

The first domain DressPants.net I acquired just last month for a few hundred bucks. The domain was listed for sale at a popular domain forum. It wasn’t the first time that it was offered for sale… Actually it’s been offered there since 2009! Took almost a year to sell.

Most domainers wouldn’t make much of it and pass because what are you going to do with it really, only sell dress pants if it is even developed? Those things are usually pretty cheap… Doesn’t sound like it has too much going for it! Forget about it??

Yes, well… That is what we did actually. The domain was developed as an affiliate based store selling dress pants for men, women, kids, etc. We have 1000s of items available on the site right now and will be adding more slowly but surely.

As an experienced internet marketer and developer, when I saw the DressPants.net domain for sale I immediately saw plenty of opportunities. The domain was priced fairly, so I pulled the trigger. Sold sold sold!

What’s so good about it though, you might ask? Well… Let me try to explain this the simplest way possible. Usually a buyer will purchase not just one pair of dress pants but multiple dress pants, so even domains that are descriptive of certain items that are priced below $50, $40 or even $10 can be valuable.. Extremely valuable!

We setup the domain DressPants.net literally just two weeks ago and it’s already generated close to a dozen orders because it’s getting search engine traffic… Average price of an order? Around $140. We usually get a commission of 6% – 8% off of each sale so we pocket $10 – $15.

Buyers have ordered dress pants, dress shirts, dress socks, etc. One guy even ordered 8 pairs of a designer brand dress pant’ which were $70/each. So basically, it all adds up nicely. Of course not every order is going to be for hundreds of dollars but every now and then… There will be without a doubt. It’s all a numbers game and you gotta think about the volume too… Not just item prices.

That is basically what made the DressPants.net a good investment at a few hundred bucks and the perfect domain to setup a store on. There are over 5,000,000 searches performed every year that are “dress pants” related according to the Google adwords keyword tool.

People who usually search for dress pants are looking to buy them.. What other reason could there be to search for dress pants if you know what I mean? So the conversion rates are really great. We got 86 total visitors so far and basically 1 out of 10 of them have made a purchase.

So what about the other two domains, ReggaetonMusic.net and GlovesShop.com ? It’s the same deal really.. I just wanted to explain things in detail right off the bat that opportunities do exist even for these types of domains which are quite often overlooked by 99% of all domainers.

Reggaeton Music cd’s and dvd’s usually cost under $10. Mp3 downloads cost under $1 but when you get somebody who is really into this stuff, they go crazy at it. It’s typical that somebody will spend $50 or more on music cd’s and dvd’s.

In order to be able to cross sell somebody all this stuff, you gotta have a very good product inventory and that we do… Our product catalog is powered by Amazon, which literally has everything. Visitors can find just about everything, in one convenient location.

Just think about it for a second.. When you go to the mall or a big specialty store, if possible you will try to get all of your shopping done at one place if they have what you need and at a decent price. It’s a lot easier and very convenient. Same deal with online shopping

I paid less than $100 for the ReggaetonMusic.net domain once I spotted it on the daily DomainStryker.com auctions list and it was another great investment. You just gotta love domains that are descriptive of an entire category. Right?? Don’t you agree?! They do have a lot of potential. Trust me on this!

Now what about that GlovesShop.com ??! A website selling gloves or something? What the… Yep. You got it! I purchased this one for less than $50 once again at a domain forum just last month. We immediately setup a website on it selling gloves. About a dozen types of gloves!

This is a great domain which I like and I immediately jumped all over it because there are many type of gloves and not all of them are cheap. Not all of them cost $10 – $20. There are motorcycle gloves that cost easily $100 – $200 and some that cost hundreds of dollars too. Same deal with work and safety gloves which are quite expensive.

At a first glance you would think, there are winter gloves, which are cheap… And is the most common use for gloves, so GlovesShop.com doesn’t sound like it could be a great money maker but rest assured… It can be and it will be!

You have to look hard enough. There are opportunities all around you.. Gotta do the research! If you look under the sports and recreation section, we have 1000s of all kinds of gloves. Baseball, soccer, golf, football, paintball, boxing, etc.

All in all, there are probably close to 20,000 different gloves on sale at GlovesShop.com. If somebody is searching for gloves, and they end up at our site.. Don’t you think that chances are pretty good that they will buy something? We are practically your one stop shop for everything gloves related…

If you look up “gloves” in the Google adwords keyword tool, there are 9,000,000 searches related to gloves performed each and every month. That is right… 9 million! Makes for over 100,000,000 every year. So now that you’ve learned more about the types of gloves that there are, and the search numbers… Don’t you think GlovesShop.com is a worthy domain??

So my friends, take some time and do your research properly. Domains aren’t just keywords with an extension. They describe actual business opportunities. It is up-to you to uncover all those opportunities. Load up your favorite keyword analysis tools… Do that market research and you too can secure great domain investments for a few hundred bucks or even under $50!

I’ve been doing this for many years, buying + developing, and there is always more and more opportunities out there and some pretty easy $$$ to be had.. Really no shortage of good keyword domains that can become profitable almost overnight if put to use the right way. Good luck!

Some of the most successful domain investors generally have settled for a particular niche or two which they have decided to focus on instead of being all over the place like newbies end up doing before they even realize this. Domainers are essentially collectors who buy up domains in categories which they are experts in and know everything there is to know about… Or at least that is how it is suppose to be.

That is one of the biggest differences there is between a seasoned domain investor / collector and a newer domainer / rookie. Domain names are investments, so you have to do your homework before you make an acquisition. You gotta know everything the domain has going for it in order to properly determine it’s value.

People who are brand new to the domain industry must understand the importance of having a clear focus and target a niche which hopefully is still wide open or should I say not too competitive. A category where you can still get lots of bargains. You really gotta carve out your own niche and that is done by doing a lot of market research and keyword analysis. The good ol’ fashioned way; hard work!

As you may or may not know, I have been focused on a couple of categories in particular the past few years when it comes to domain acquisitions. I have purchased thousands of domains in the real estate, travel and entertainment niches. Some directly from owners, some on the aftermarket but most have been manually registered. A lot of these domains have been mass developed while the rest will be re-sold eventually. The above list is just a small sampling of the domain collection I was able to put together so far. I am not even done yet… Still working on adding more domains to the list. I have domains mostly in the .org gTLD but some .net’s as well, ie;

I personally prefer the .org over the .net extension in this case because travel related websites in the USA have been marketed under the .org extension for a long long time. Believe it or not, many of these tourism .org’s domains get natural type in traffic and even make some money while parked. Some of the better domains I had to pay hundreds of dollars during auctions, but most of them I was able to secure for under $10. It really doesn’t get better than that!

I am probably going to try and flip this collection of domains soon… If that doesn’t work out then I can always develop them. That is always an option I am more than happy to explore and truly enjoy. I love building out on-topic networks and with such a diverse collection of travel related domains, it should be a lot of fun and hopefully profitable too

Most of the city’s I’ve targeted aren’t just your average city. They are “global cities” also known as world city / alpha city / international city, etc. Extremely popular tourist destinations… Metropolis… Megalopolis… Very popular and world renowned destinations. Capitals of their country’s. So you get the idea. They are hot hot hot.

Just one or two of these on their own wouldn’t be as valuable as they are in a group sale. Collections of related keyword domains are that much more desirable and always in-demand.

When you are investing in domains, you want to have an entire niche covered if possible… Not by having 100 or 500 domains of the same city or product for example, but covering it from different angles.
