  • Cool domains. If I had luck moving .org, I would take a chance. I would want to own one .com that targets tourism in one of the areas above.

I’m sure you’ll land a deal. There’s a lot of potential to make money with affiliates. The domain age will seal the deal. Good luck.

  • I’m THIS close to abandoning my promise to not buy any domains until I build out or sell the 3500+ filtered domains I already own, but this price for these killer domains is INSANE.

I will at least say this – people don’t understand that .org domain is the 2nd most popular and recognized domain extension in the english speaking world. Think about dumping each domain for only $500 a piece at these cities’ Chamber of Commerce… (too bad the sale is only until today – I would advise ANY new domain investor to put this on their credit card, and sit home sending out emails and phone calls for a month. The domains would be all sold with a profit of $5,000)

If these domains aren’t sold by mid september as a group, I’ll do a firesale price buy (i always go to garage sales when it’s the end of the day) for a negotiated lower price that you agree with. Send me an email — please include your analysis of why the domains didn’t sell — dumb domainers? Scared to really “invest”? Misinformed on why .org domains are valuable?

This is an EXCELLENT buy already — but if the domain community doesn’t get it, sorry, I’ll get them at a lower price in a month!

Great domains… the fact that they’re .org is a strike against them, but (city)tourism domains are nothing to complain about.

Too bad that the tourism season is over and any chance to make money needs to wait about a year.

@Stephen Douglas – there’s 3 reasons as to why these wouldn’t do well with any chamber of commerce.

    1. Government agencies are impossible to sell to

I have a killer .com geodomain for a very well known and sought after area, and have attempted to contact multiple government agencies who might benefit from owning the name, and they all declined on principle.

Having made tens of thousands of cold calls in my lifetime, I can tell you that their reason for declining was “this is a sales call, we don’t take sales calls”, versus “we can’t use this”.

    2. Many of these countries have their own TLD

Even though it is meant for outsiders to view, a country like Russia would see little value in MoscowTourism.org, as .com is the top TLD, but to them, .ru would be the next best.

    3. Communicating to the end users would be difficult

Besides Sydney and Toronto (my domicile), to my knowledge, none of these places are primarily English-speaking. Hiring a translator for each name would bring on substantial cost, not to mention the long-distance calls and the hassle of lining up the right time to call based on the different time zones (I’m an insomiac, so that’s no issue for me).

To cap off my rant, I might be interested in TorontoTourism.org… Mike, I’ll send you an email in regards to this.
